Ken Spilger
Pastor Ken Spilger has been the pastor of Grace Baptist Church since December of 1977. He graduated from Tennessee Temple University and Temple Baptist Seminary, and has done further study with Pioneer Institute of Biblical Ministries. Prior to coming to St. Louis, he pastored churches in North Georgia and in rural Nebraska.
In 1980, Pastor Spilger was the only survivor of a small plane crash. He had third-degree/deep tissue burns on thirty percent of his body which required a lengthy recovery. God has used this tragedy to deepen his life and ministry.
Today, Pastor and Mrs. Spilger have 7 children, 3 sons-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, and 9 grandchildren. God has given them a vision to raise up godly generations who will impact this world for Christ now, and for generations to come. Their desire is to bring each generation to a firsthand knowledge of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in every area of their life. They count it a real privilege to serve the families of Grace Baptist Church and the Spanish Lake Community.
Beth Spilger
Beth is the oldest of eight children and grew up in a ministry family. Her childhood took her from Nicaragua to Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. It was during her family’s years in Nicaragua that she put her faith in Christ.
While studying Elementary Education at Bible college, Beth met her husband, Ken. At the time, he was pastoring a small chapel while working on his college and seminary degrees, and Beth joined him in ministry by helping with a children’s program on the weekends. As they served side by side, their friendship grew into something more, and they were married in 1975.
Over the years, Beth and Ken have served in just two churches—first in a small rural congregation in northeast Nebraska, and later in a large city in Missouri, where they continue to serve today.
Family has always been central to Beth’s life. She and Ken have seven children, along with three sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and nine grandchildren. When she’s not busy with family or church, Beth enjoys art, music, and all things creative including graphic design, sewing, embroidery, stamping, and scrapbooking.
Beth and Ken also co-authored a book about their journey after Ken survived a plane crash as the sole survivor. Their story is one of loss, faith, and how God brought purpose out of tragedy.
